The Remembering Foundation was born out of a simple yet powerful act of community. What began as an annual brunch hosted by founder Carolyn Mosby for women who had lost their mothers has grown into a movement of support, remembrance, and healing. Held each year on the weekend before Mother’s Day, the brunch provided a safe space for women to come together, share their stories, and find comfort during what is often one of the most difficult times of the year.
The impact was immediate. From that gathering, Carolyn created a thriving online community with more than 3,000 followers and designed meaningful merchandise that allows people to honor and celebrate the memory of their loved ones. Recognizing the broader need, she later introduced Remembering My Dad, a similar event for those grieving the loss of their fathers.
Through ongoing conversations with participants, it became clear that the need extended far beyond one annual gathering. Families wanted more — ongoing support, community connection, and resources to help them navigate their grief. In response, the Remembering Foundation was formally established as a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds to sustain these programs and expand into year-round services.
Today, the brunches are offered free of charge, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to accessibility and compassion. With demand increasing each year, the Foundation is now scaling its work to include group support sessions, grief education, and ongoing programming to ensure that no one has to grieve alone.
The Remembering Foundation exists to meet a growing need: to bring healing, connection, and hope to those who have lost a parent, and to ensure that remembrance is embraced as an essential part of community well-being.
Over the years, we have brought together more than 3,500 people through our online community and signature brunches. Already for the 2026 brunch, over 200 people are on the waiting list—showing the depth of connection and healing these gatherings provide.
But the brunches are just the beginning. The Foundation is the umbrella for all remembrance experiences, creating spaces where people can honor loved ones, find comfort in community, and access resources for healing. In addition to hosting brunches in cities including Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Houston, the Foundation will expand into other remembrance events, grief support initiatives, and year-round programs designed to help people navigate loss with dignity and connection.
